Flower Care

View the Purdue University Department of Horticulture tips for adding longevity to the life of your bouquet.

  • Cutting stems at an angle keeps them from sitting flat on the bottom of the vase allowing for maximum water absorbtion
  • Remove excess foliage and submerged leaves
  • Try to use warm, uncontaminated water when refilling your vase
  • Flower preservatives help with longivety - see recipes in the link
  • Regularly clean your vase with soap and water
  • Avoid excess heat or moving air
  • We used to think pennies in the vase guarded against wilting but according to Purdue Horticulture it doesn't; neither does baby aspirin
